“Then they will know …” etc.
Then they will know that I am the LORD.
(Ezekiel 30:26; NIV. Please read Ezekiel 29-32.)
The Lord has had His say, regarding Israel. His people will face the consequences of their rebellious ways. And in the end His purpose will be fulfilled – “they will know that I am the Lord“.
The same is also true for Egypt (the audience of these prophecies). They will face the consequences of their efforts to seduce Israel. And in the end His purpose will be fulfilled – Egypt will never again be a world power, and “they will know that I am the Lord”.
ON SECOND THOUGHT: Is this not the purpose of God even now? Is this not the ultimate purpose of every sunrise or sunset … every hailstorm or hurricane … every cool breeze or Diablo wind … every rainbow or flash flood … every earthquake or tsunami … to cause all men and nations to “know that I am the Lord“?

I know we’ve read in other places where God has said, “Then they will know I am the Lord.”
I guess I would have to believe that the entire Bible consists of proof that He is the Lord. His purpose was to let everyone know. Those that obeyed could be comforted and awed by that fact. Those that rebelled could expect punishment and judgment.
Creation shouts His name, and like you mentioned, the tsunami’s, earthquakes, and floods show us His power and control. There is nothing bigger or better than the Lord. Right now there are signs of Him all around but people look past them or discount them as something else. However, there will come a day when all doubt will be removed and there will be no more confusion … the entire world will know … that He is the Lord.

Hahaha @ Granny!! That WILL be amazing if you don’t hit him
I was watching a show about the NASA Missions to the moon. I wish I could remember who said it, but it was one of the astronauts involved in a lunar landing. He said something about how impossible it was to look at the Earth from that distance and not believe in God.
Yet we look around us every day at His handiwork and we don’t think twice about the amazing things we see. What keeps the planet in orbit? How does a life begin with all the “coincidences” that it takes? How does that baby grow and form perfectly and come out breathing? How do our hearts continue to beat? Why does the rain smell so sweet? How do the clouds form so beautifully? That list of questions could go on forever!! And i know that some scientists would have an explanation for them…but I can look at them and know that it is because of God. And all these things continue to happen because He is the Lord.
When the Lord shows His power….we look and say He is the Lord. When we don’t see why…we can still look and say He is the Lord. One of these days the whole world will know…that He is the Lord. There will be no denying it. There will be no explaining things away. Everyone will know that He is the Lord!
